The Company – Communications Manager

We are partnering with one the UKs largest and most well-known charities on an amazing opportunity for an established Communications Manager to join their Cambridgeshire based Team. Dedicated to improving and saving the lives of millions through ground-breaking research, improving patient care and raising awareness, they are a dynamic and passionate team, driving change and refusing to settle for the status quo.

The Role – Communications Manager

Their communications team plays a vital role in inspiring the UK public to get involved and raise funds to ensure their vital work is possible. Reporting directly into the Head of Marketing and Communications, this role will see you focus on the medical aspect of their work, spreading the message in engaging and compelling ways and bringing their research to life. Working collaboratively with the wider marketing and communications and research teams, you will be responsible for translating medical research and scientific information in inspiring campaigns that will increase awareness and help save loves through raising funds.

The ideal candidate will have a medical/scientific marketing background and strong background in communicating medical research to public and professional audiences.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Play a key role in developing the overall marketing and communications strategy to support the charities short and long-term objectives.
  • Gather Research information and make is accessible and inspiring for their supporters, the general public and your fellow employees.
  • Lead on the development of innovative and engaging research focused content to engage a variety of stakeholders
  • Research Media Activity – creating a PR plan and proactively sourcing stories to generate media interest
  • Support the wider team, particularly fundraising teams through developing interesting and inspiring stories to aid their work
  • Measure and evaluate communication initiatives
  • Act as a Spokesperson on behalf of the charity internally, externally and in the media
  • Responsibility of the management and development of one direct report
